RS Tera World Championship 2008 |
|
The first ever RS Tera World Championship with fifty boats from seven nations is now over. After today's initial postponement of races due to strong wind and heavy rain two more races were finally sailed making a total of nine races completed between 8 - 10 August.
Norwegian Hermann Tomasgaard (NOR100) maintained his impressive first position throughout the championship winning all nine races (8 points) and thereby becoming the first ever RS Tera World Champion. Arya Sevgen from Turkey came in second place (27 points) closely followed by Swedish Beatrice Törnsten in third (28 points).
Paul Handley, designer of both the RS Tera and RS Feva spoke at the Opening ceremony on Friday and was pleased to open the first ever RS Tera Worlds. At next year's Europeans to be held at Garda Lake, Jon Partridge from the International Class Association hopes to see even more Teras as the boat class continues to increase in popularity.
The organizing clubs Björlanda Kile and Kaparen would like to thank competitors and their families and coaches for making this an exciting event. We would also like to thank race officials, the international judges as well as Principal Race Officer Jerome Nutte from France for excellent race management.
